Lemurian records is honored to release the first ever studio recordings by legendary Cleveland synth duo Witchbeam/Fluxmonkey recently dubbed "Semaphore for Annie Besant." Their side comprises 29 minutes of cubensis sci-fi soundtrack improvisations that feel more like a sonic sculpture than overtly musical. Imagine in your mind's eye: an organic, bioluminescent membrane-crystal slowly rotating in an extra dimensional vacuum. Geometric mandalas and prismatic objects shape-shift beneath closed eyelids as a disembodied lung blows clouds of pigmented powder into the air. This side absolutely rips--grab a copy while you still can.
Side B features the return of Cleveland scuzzies FIRE DEATH. Extreme, ecstatic rust-belt spirituals by "Stoney Tusco" Benjamin Osborne (Horn, Tape Loops, Guitar), J. Guy Laughlin (Percussion), and recently Matthew Gallagher (Electronics). A document of lived telepathy through sonification, this side is a slow burn reminiscent of LAFMS, Tiger Hatchery, Weasel Walter and friends. A rusted junk-yard wasteland is home to an ancient, emaciated and diseased lord of rodentia. He saunters through muddy gasoline puddles in search of leftover malt-liquor sips. Collecting stray oogle scalps, his thirst for the blood of ignorant humans has remained unquenched since the dawn of the industrial age. Est. 2009 in Cleveland, FIRE DEATH is one of the heaviest embodiments of the midwestern experience.
